What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file your browser stores on behalf of a website. Some are needed for the site to work at all (e.g. to keep you logged in); others are optional and used for analytics or advertising. We only set the strictly necessary kind, plus one tiny functional cookie that remembers you've already seen our cookie banner.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the Platform to operate. You cannot opt out of them while using heepr - turning them off would break login.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| heepr_session | Signed HttpOnly cookie that keeps you logged in across requests. Cleared on logout. | 30 days |
| admin_session | Set only on the staff admin console (separate subdomain). Same role as heepr_session for our internal users. | 30 days |
| oauth_state | Short-lived CSRF token used during “Continue with Google / GitHub / Facebook” sign-in. | ~10 minutes |
Functional cookies
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| heepr_cookie_consent | Remembers that you've seen / dismissed the cookie banner so we don't re-show it on every page. | 1 year |
No advertising or tracking
heepr does not set or load third-party advertising cookies, social retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking IDs during the Beta. If we add them later, this page will list them and we will update the consent flow before any non-essential cookie fires.
Third-party cookies you may see
When you complete a “Continue with Google”, “Continue with GitHub”, or “Continue with Facebook” sign-in, the OAuth provider sets its own cookies on its own domain - those follow Google's, GitHub's, or Facebook's own policies, not ours. heepr never reads them.
How to manage cookies
- Log out from your dashboard to clear the session cookie. Log out on every device you used.
- Browser settings- every major browser lets you delete cookies for a specific origin from its preferences (look for “Site data” or “Privacy and security”).
- Private / incognito mode - cookies set during the session are dropped when the window closes.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our cookie usage changes and refresh the effective date at the top. For material changes that introduce non-essential cookies, we'll re-prompt for consent before they fire.
